Paul Salvaire has been Deputy Consul General of France in San Francisco since September 1, 2023.

A career diplomat, Paul Salvaire joined the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France in 2011. He held various positions in Paris and abroad. Before arriving in San Francisco, Paul was deputy assistant director of environment and climate at the ministry in Paris, from 2020 to 2023. In this capacity, he represented France in international negotiations on climate and biodiversity.

From 2017 to 2020, Paul Salvaire was counsellor for global issues at the French Embassy in New Delhi. He was in particular responsible for strengthening Franco-Indian cooperation in the field of energy and climate. From 2014 to 2017, Paul was the chief of staff of the French Ambassador to the United Kingdom. He began his career in 2011 as a desk officer in the development department at the ministry.

Aged 36, Paul is a graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and Paris-Sorbonne University.
