Raffaele D’Errico
Bio:
Dr. Raffaele D’Errico is a Senior Scientist and Project Manager at CEA-Leti in Grenoble, France. Since 2025, he has been coordinating EU programs for the Wireless Technology Division.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to and coordinated several European and French ANR projects, while also developing strong industrial partnerships. His expertise spans propagation channel sounding and modeling, wireless communications, radar systems, 5G/6G networks, mmWave and THz technologies, wireless sensor networks, Body Area Networks (BANs), antenna design and characterization, RFID, radio localization and mapping, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), and Over-the-Air testing.
He has authored more than 150 scientific papers and holds 15 patents. He also led the development of MIMO Ground Penetrating Radar at CEA-Leti.
Abstract:
This talk presents a cutting-edge 3D MIMO ground-penetrating radar for real-time, high-resolution imaging of subsurface structures.
Originally developed at CEA-Leti for civil engineering and underground digital-twin applications, it precisely maps buried utilities with centimeter-level accuracy. The presentation will show how this civil technology can also serve defense by enabling the detection of mines, concealed objects, and other subsurface threats, as a powerful example of dual-use sensing.
