Marc Engel
Bio:
Marc ENGEL is the CEO and Co-Founder of Agileo Automation, a French software company specializing in equipment control and connectivity for the semiconductor industry. With over 25 years of experience in industrial automation, Marc started his career as an engineer working on robotics and tool control at such OEMs as RECIF Technologies. As company CEO since 2010, he has led and driven the development of A²ECF-SEMI, a modular equipment automation framework used by OEMs worldwide to integrate SECS/GEM, GEM300, OPC UA, EDA, and Industry 4.0 capabilities.
At the intersection of automation and digital transformation, Marc has been involved in research and innovation projects supporting the adoption of digital twins, model-driven development, and edge-to-cloud architectures for production equipment. He also supports start-ups and established OEMs in defining automation strategies and implementing SECS/GEM interfaces for successful fab deployment.
Abstract:
As tier-one fabs move toward sub-ångström nodes and complex 3D AI chip architectures, legacy protocols can no longer handle the required data velocity. This session explores why Equipment Data Acquisition (EDA / Interface A) has evolved from an optional feature to a mandatory requirement for both standard front-end and advanced packaging OEMs. We will highlight the transition from SOAP-based Freeze 2 to the high-performance gRPC Freeze 3, enabling the "zero-defect" precision and high-frequency sensor modeling essential for modern yield. Attendees will learn how standardized data structures transform equipment into AI-ready assets, ensuring seamless integration into the data-driven ecosystems of 2026.
